Mesmerising "Hamsa" pendant in 9 carat White Gold, expertly set with dazzling, fully facetted Cubic Zirconia stones.
The Hamsa is a symbol widely used in amulets, charms, and jewellery, and gets its name from the Arabic word for five "Khamsa". It is a very ancient Talisman, used as protection from the Evil Eye, or more generally seen as providing a "protecting hand". It often appears in stylised form as a hand with three fingers raised, and two thumbs arranged symmetrically.
Also known in Jewish tradition as the "Hand of Miriam", in reference to the sister of Moses and Aaron, some link the five fingers to the five books of the Torah. Alternatively, the Islamic name for this charm is the "Hand of Fatima", in reference to the daughter of Mohammed, and some link the five fingers to the five Pillars of Islam.
Archaeological evidence suggests the Hamsa hand predates both religions.
This stunning "Hamsa" hand pendant incorporates the Jewish "Chai" symbol, whose meaning in Hebrew is "living". There have been various mystical numerological speculations abou the fact that according to gematria, the letters of "chai" add up to 18, with the result that 18 is considered a Lucky Number in Judaism.
Measuring approx 20mm x 15mm, and weighing approx 1.9g, this alluring pendant combimes the Hamsa and the Chai symbols in one inspirational piece. Bearing a full British Hallmark- your guarantee of quality- and supplied in a Deluxe gift box, this piece represents excellent value for money at only £39.95 (Recommended Retail Price £49.95).
*****Interesting fact : Elvis Presley wore a cross, a "chai", and a Star of David around his neck. "I don't want to miss out on heaven due to a technicality" he said.****** |
