Victorian inspired reproduction Antique earrings, featuring fantastic, fiery Opals. These fabulous drop earrings, in fine Hallmarked Yellow Gold, are styled in the form of a Cross encrusted with Opals, terminating in a single rubover-set teardrop Opal, suspended from the base. These elegant earrings reflect the glory of days gone by, in all their fiery splendour. Suitable only for pierced ears, these breathtaking Opal earrings have a shepherd's crook/ wire fitting, which passes through the ear, and measure approx 23mm x 10mm. Opal is the birthstone for October, and the name derives from the Sanskrit word "Upala" or precious stone. The Arabs believed that Opals acquired their fiery colour by falling from the heavens in flashes of lightning.
